The Office of Autism Services (OAS) was established in 2008 (633.210 RSMo) to provide leadership in program development for children and adults with autism spectrum disorders, to include establishment of program standards and coordination of program capacity. OAS is committed to supporting the independence and self-sufficiency of individuals with autism by leading collaborative efforts to improve system supports for individuals with autism and their families.

Parent Advisory Councils
The Missouri Department of Mental Health (DMH) funds five Regional Autism Projects, which collectively provide autism services statewide. Each Autism Project has a Regional Parent Advisory Council made up of parents or adults with autism.
The Missouri Parent Advisory Committee on Autism is composed of two representatives and one alternate from each of the five Parent Advisory Councils. The Committee also includes one adult with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and one alternate, also an adult with ASD.
