The Psychology Department at Fulton State Hospital plays an integral role in the treatment of individuals served. We implement a program-based model that provides evidence-based treatments to individuals with serious mental illnesses and/or intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. These positions, while often available, are subject to funding demands of the facility and the Department of Mental Health and may not be available on a regular basis. Fulton State Hospital provides opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to gain experiences in working with individuals with serious mental illnesses and/or intellectual and/or developmental disabilities. These are unpaid positions that are typically affiliated with a university as a practicum placement or internship.
